On Mission Network responding to flooding in Texas and Louisiana
On Mission Network (OMN) is actively responding to flooding impacts in Central Texas while preparing to assist communities across Louisiana and other Gulf Coast states affected by Tropical Storm Arthur.
Recent heavy rainfall in Central Texas caused localized flooding in the Waco area, leaving several homes damaged by rising waters. OMN has deployed flood recovery teams from Dallas, San Angelo, Belton and Waco to assist homeowners with muck-out operations and the initial stages of recovery. Students from Baylor University have also joined the effort, serving alongside local volunteers to help families begin the difficult process of rebuilding.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Arthur, the first named storm of the season, brought significant rainfall to portions of Texas and Louisiana. While much of the storm's moisture remained over the Gulf, heavy rain bands caused flooding in several communities across Louisiana and continue to threaten additional flooding as the storm's remnants move across the Gulf states.
In Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, reports indicate that at least 200 homes have been flooded. OMN is currently receiving requests for assistance from communities in Houma and other affected areas, including needs for flood recovery and community feeding. Our leadership team is also in communication with partners across the region as conditions continue to develop.
As floodwaters recede, On Mission Network will work through local churches to mobilize trained volunteers who can provide practical assistance, emotional support and the hope found in Christ.
Our goal is not only to help families recover physically but also to encourage communities as they begin the journey toward restoration.
In addition to these responses, OMN continues to monitor severe weather and wind events across the Plains and Midwest – ready to assist where needs arise.
We ask you to join us in praying for the safety of those affected by these storms, for the volunteers serving on the front lines, and for every family facing loss and uncertainty.
Pray that through the collective efforts of the Church, God's love will be demonstrated in tangible ways as needs are met and lives are restored.
