On Mission Network Mobilizes Emergency Response Team to Jamaica and the Caribbean Following Hurricane Melissa
Task force deploys to support local church leaders in recovery planning and implementation
In response to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Melissa across Jamaica and the wider Caribbean, On Mission Network is set to deploy a specialized task force to support local partners on the ground. The team will work directly with regional church leaders to assess immediate needs, develop structured recovery plans and implement actionable strategies for long-term community resilience.
“Our mission is to walk alongside local leaders who know their communities best,” said On Mission Network President Rand Jenkins. “We’re here to resource, empower and amplify the work already being done by faithful leaders in the impacted area.”
The initial deployment includes disaster response coordinators, logistics specialists and community organizers trained in recovery and faith-based volunteer mobilization. The team will prioritize communication, workflow and standard operating processes that OMN has developed through its history of disaster response work.
Additional volunteers may be mobilized as needs are assessed in collaboration with local partners. A more complete assessment will begin the moment waters recede.
On Mission Network is accepting financial donations to support local procurement of supplies, transportation, and community-based programming.
“We believe the local church is the most powerful force for healing and restoration in any disaster zone,” Jenkins added. “Our role is to help them lead — with clarity, capacity, and confidence.”
