Why serve in Jamaica?
Jamaica offers a meaningful opportunity to step into ministry that's both practical and personal. Volunteers work alongside local believers to help restore homes, strengthen communities and encourage churches.
This is more than a trip.
It's a chance to be a part of something bigger – a chance to bring tangible help and hope in the name of Christ.
What you'll do:
Volunteers serve through a variety of hands-on ministry opportunities, including:
- Light construction projects
- Moderate repair work
- Full construction and rebuilding of homes and churches
- Restoring damaged metal roofs on homes
- Rebuilding houses for families in need
Whether you're experienced in construction or simply have a desire to serve, there's a place for you.

Partners in Jamaica
Since the beginning of our work in Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa, we've worked alongside New Testament Church of God and the Jamaica Baptist Union. More recently, we've begun a partnership for long-term recovery mission trips with Adventures in Mission (AIM). Much of the in-country service will be aligned through and with AIM.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What kind of work will I be doing?
Most teams serve through construction-based ministry, ranging from light to hard labor. This can include restoring metal roofs, repairing storm-damaged homes, rebuilding structures and supporting local churches and communities. Work assignments depend on current needs and team ability.
Do I need construction experience?
No. While construction skills are helpful, they are not required. Many roles can be learned on-site. What matters most is a willingness to serve, a strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Is the work physically demanding?
It can be. Some projects involve lifting, climbing and working in warm, humid conditions. There are often a variety of roles available, so team leaders will help match you with appropriate tasks when possible.
How many people can I bring?
Pending availability of beds during each week, you could bring up to 25 people.
Where will we stay?
Teams stay in simple, safe, group-style housing. Expect shared rooms, shared bathrooms and a team-focused environment. The setting is designed to support both rest and community.
There is a men’s section and a women’s section with bunk beds.
What meals are provided?
Meals are provided on site, typically including breakfast and dinner, with lunch arranged during ministry days. Food is simple, consistent and designed to fuel a full day of service.
How do we get around?
Transportation is coordinated for the team throughout the week, including airport transfers and daily travel to ministry sites.
Is it safe?
Teams operate in established ministry locations with trusted local partners and leadership. Standard safety practices are followed, and team leaders will provide guidance throughout the week.
What should I bring?
You will receive a packing list before your trip, but generally you should plan for:
- Work clothes (that can get dirty)
- Work gloves
- Closed-toe shoes or boots
- Lightweight, breathable clothing (we recommend long sleeves and long pants)
- Bible and journal
- Personal items and toiletries
Can I come as an individual or do I need a group?
Both are welcome. Individuals can join scheduled teams, and churches or groups can come together and serve as a unit.
Can our church bring a team?
Yes. This is a great opportunity for churches, student groups and ministry teams to serve together. OMN can help coordinate details for your group.
What is a typical day like?
Days include breakfast, personal devotion time, service projects, team debrief and dinner. The rhythm is structured to balance ministry, reflection and community.
Will we have time to experience the culture?
Yes. There are built-in opportunities such as church services and local stops that will allow you to experience Jamaican culture while remaining focused on ministry.
